Poker Basics

Side Pot

A separate pot created when one or more players are all-in and cannot match the full bets of remaining players. The all-in player is only eligible to win the main pot (proportional to their contribution from each opponent). Remaining active players compete for the side pot with their additional bets.

Example

Player A is all-in for $50, Player B bets $100, and Player C calls $100. The main pot has $150 (all three can win it), and the side pot has $100 (only B and C can win it).
