VPIP (Voluntarily Put $ in Pot)
A HUD statistic showing the percentage of hands in which a player voluntarily puts money into the pot preflop (by calling or raising, excluding forced blind posts). VPIP is the most fundamental indicator of how loose or tight a player is. Typical winning VPIP ranges are 20-28% for 6-max and 15-22% for full ring.
Example
A player's VPIP is 45%, meaning they voluntarily put money in the pot almost half the time. This is extremely loose — they are playing far too many hands and are a great target.
